PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Stand Tall and Be Fabulous

Welcome to the 2023-2024 school year!  As we embark on a new academic journey, I welcome you all to another promising year at Stone Elementary School. It is both an honor and a privilege to step into my ninth year as Principal and my seventeenth year within the Addison School District 4 family. I extend my warmest greetings to both familiar faces and new members of our school community.

My journey in education began as a sixth-grade math teacher during the 2006-2007 school year. Over time, my roles expanded, allowing me to engage closely with our students and guide them beyond the classroom. As I transitioned from teaching to administrative positions, my passion for fostering a positive and inspiring educational environment only grew stronger. Taking the reins as Principal in 2014-2015, I have been blessed to witness the incredible potential that resides within each student who walks through our doors.

Here's to a year filled with curiosity, growth, and remarkable achievements. Let us embark on this journey together, with a shared determination to make it the best year yet.

Wishing you all an inspiring and successful school year!

Warm regards,

Cristina Villalobos

Principal, Stone Elementary School

How do I stay informed?

Stone School communicates through several methods. The best places to look for up-to-date information are the Stone Snippets newsletter (every two weeks) or the Stone School website. We also utilize notes home, Stone School email distribution for announcements and reminders, a Twitter account (@StoneSchool4), and an Instagram account (@stoneschool4). If you would like to be added to our email distribution list, please email Cristina Villalobos at [email protected]

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

We often have questions that are asked by many parents throughout the school year. If you don't see an answer to your question, please feel free to email me at [email protected] with the subject line: Question and I will attempt to answer it for you!

How do I get involved at the school? There are many ways.  The first thing I would do is reach out to your child's teacher and ask them if there is something you can do to help them.  Depending on the classroom, we have parents come in and read to the class, make copies or prepare materials for the teacher, assist during centers, read with individual students, etc.

We also recommend you join our Stone School PTA!  We meet on the second Tuesday of every month at 6:00 pm in the library.  Any parents are welcome to join us.  Our PTA is very involved in many activities including organizing fun family events for our students including our Fall Festival (October), Ornament Night (December), and Field Day (May).  We always need volunteers!

Who do I contact if I have a concern about my child's behavior or academics? Please contact the classroom teacher as soon as possible and speak to them about your concerns. They can offer you insights or suggestions for supporting your child. Teachers are available for conferences in person or by phone.

What time is the office open? Our office is open from 8:00 am-4:15 pm every school day.  Additionally, if you need to call a child in sick or absent, please use our attendance line: 630/628-4054.

Why is my child being sent home ill?  We utilize the health guidelines in our Parent-Student Handbook on pages 16-17.  Some common reasons are vomiting, fever, untreated rashes, or other contagious illnesses.  For a full list, you can view the handbook here: http://www.asd4.org/files/user/1/file/English.pdf.  For some illnesses, we will require a dr. note for students to return to school.  All students must also be fever-free for 24 hours without the use of fever-reducing medication to return to school.
